So what makes a good workshop successful?
And What Doesn't!
There are a few, simple rules to follow to
guarantee success. Obviously you want to have a venue that suits
your needs, easy to find, easy parking, those sorts of things. For
some people comfortable chairs is important! But for success, you need
to fill those chairs, and that's where the biggest worry often lies with
business owners - where am I going to find my customers.
BEFORE you
book the venue, select the date, and cross your fingers that you'll be able
get some bookings, there are some steps you MUST follow:
Know your customer
Getting to
know your customer and finding out what they want is a life-time activity
for
all business owners. Well, there are some that don’t have a system for
finding out, but they don't stay around very long. As you probably
know 50-90% of businesses fail in the first year
or two of trading. Astonishing and frightening isn't it!
Being able to
find out what your customer wants (called your "hungry crowd"), and then providing that
solution for them,
is the proven formula for success in any business. Rather than the
other way round - thinking you've got a great product and then trying to
find the market and the customer later!
